Diode Lasers in Dentistry

The Regional Clinical Dental Clinic purchased a «Biolaze-epik» diode laser for use on soft tissues in periodontics.

The main difference with laser treatment is that a fast and accurate ray is used instead of a scalpel. The advantage of laser techniques is that the laser light energy is so short-lived that:

  1. it reduces the temperature effect on the tissue and reduces the patient’s pain;
  2. laser radiation seals the blood vessels at the point of exposure, allows you to get an almost bloodless incision;
  3. laser radiation kills microflora and reduces the probability of postoperative complications;
  4. an important advantage is that scar tissue does not form after the laser, a “smooth seam” is formed, which allows to achieve high aesthetic results.

We use laser in periodentistry:

  • to remove fibromas and papillomas;
  • to negate gum hypertrophy;
  • in surgical and non-surgical debridement;
  • in vestibuloplasty;
  • in gum surgeries (gingivectomy, gingivoplasty);
  • frenuloplasty.
